- Selected metro area — to deliver relevant alerts
- Payment information — processed by Stripe (we never see your full card number)

- Usage data — pages visited, features used, timestamps
- Device information — browser type, operating system
- SMS delivery status — whether messages were delivered successfully
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Your precise location or GPS coordinates
- Contents of your text messages (beyond STOP/HELP responses)
- Information about homeowners or fire victims
- Your browsing activity outside of SmokeTag
3. How We Use Your Information
- Deliver SMS alerts about fire incidents in your selected metro area
- Process your subscription payments
- Send account-related communications (billing, service updates)
- Improve the Service and fix issues
- Comply with legal obligations
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:
- Stripe — payment processing
- Twilio — SMS delivery
- Supabase — database and authentication
- Vercel — hosting
- Groq — AI transcription and language model processing (processes public radio audio only, no personal data)
- Broadcastify — public radio feed access
- Cloudflare — DNS and security
These providers process your data only as necessary to provide their services to us. We do not share your phone number, email, or any personal information with other SmokeTag users, restoration companies, or any third parties for marketing purposes.
5. Fire Incident Data
SmokeTag processes publicly available fire dispatch radio communications. The addresses and incident details we extract and share with subscribers are derived from public radio broadcasts, not private data sources. We do not collect, store, or share any personal information about homeowners, occupants, or victims of fire incidents.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including:
- Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
- Encryption at rest for stored data
- Row-level security in our database
- Secure authentication via Supabase Auth
- Payment information handled entirely by Stripe (PCI compliant)
No system is 100% secure. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you promptly.
7. Data Retention
- Account data — retained while your account is active and for 30 days after deletion
- Incident data — retained for up to 90 days
- Payment records — retained as required by law (typically 7 years)
- SMS logs — delivery status retained for 30 days
8. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data — contact us for a copy
- Correct inaccurate information — update via your account settings
- Delete your account and data — contact support@smoketag.com
- Opt out of SMS — reply STOP to any message
- Export your data — contact us for a machine-readable copy
9. SMS-Specific Privacy
- We only send SMS messages you have explicitly opted into.
- Your phone number is used solely for delivering SmokeTag alerts.
- We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number with third parties.
- Opt-out requests (STOP) are processed immediately.
- We comply with TCPA, CTIA, and carrier guidelines for SMS communications.
10. Cookies
We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies. Analytics, if implemented, will use privacy-respecting methods.
11. Children's Privacy
SmokeTag is not intended for use by individuals under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors.
